Google has updated the stable Chrome channel with new security, privacy and graphics acceleration enhancement. Carrying a build number of 12.0.742.91, Google’s browser now warns you before downloading certain malicious files “without Chrome or Google ever having to know about the URLs you visit or the files you download”, software engineer Adrienne Walker explained in a post on the Chrome blog. The team has also advanced Chrome’s GPU-assisted hardware acceleration to include 3D CSS elements on Mac OS X Snow Leopard and Windows Vista or later....

Netherrealm Studios’ flagship fighting game is no stranger to extra purchasable content and new character skins, with the most recent addition being a crossover with Terminator: Dark Fate which not only included Arnold’s Terminator as a playable character but also included a Sarah Connor costume for Sonya Blade. The Mortal Kombat team seems to have a fascination with guest characters, having included both Kratos from God of War and Freddy Krueger from A Nightmare on Elm Street back in 2011’s reboot....

Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger TV show has been canceled by Freeform after 2 seasons. Launching in 2018, Cloak and Dagger was part of Marvel TV’s attempt to expand their reach across multiple networks and platforms. The series was the first Marvel property to land on ABC’s sister network Freeform, and starred Olivia Holt as Tandy Bowen a.k.a. Dagger and Aubrey Joseph as Tyrone Johnson a.k.a. Cloak. In the midst of its successful first season, Freeform announced that Cloak and Dagger would be returning for a second season in early 2019....

Marvel’s Disney+ shows could explain Jane Foster’s return in Thor: Love & Thunder. Last seen in Thor: The Dark World (and some re-used footage in Avengers: Endgame), Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster is set to return in 2021’s Thor 4. But Jane Foster is no longer relegated to mere love interest; this time around she’ll be wielding Mjolnir herself, in an arc based on Jason Aaron’s Mighty Thor run. But, of course, the MCU’s Jane Foster is very different to the character seen in the comics....

Bits and pieces of information about a next-generation Surface device from Microsoft have been popping up here and there over the last year or so. Now, details about the size of the “new and disruptive” dual-screen device and how it will be positioned in the company’s lineup have emerged. As reported by The Verge, an internal document from Microsoft has shed more light on the upcoming device. The company is hoping that it will shake up the market and believes it will steer its Surface roadmap and change how people view PC and mobile devices....

Nightwolf is the latest Mortal Komabt 11 character to be unveiled via a gameplay trailer ahead of his August 13th early access DLC release. First appearing in MK3, Nightwolf joins Shang Tsung, Sindel, and Image Comics’ Spawn as the first set of downloadable characters for MK11, which has been out since April 2019. Two more upcoming guest characters have also been announced, but they are as-of-yet still unnamed. Originally born as Grey Cloud, Nightwolf is a member of the fictional Native American Makota tibe and was chosen by their Great Spirit to be its champion and protector....

For over twenty-five years, the world of trading card games has been unequivocally dominated by the five-mana symbols of Magic the Gathering. The brainchild of Richard Garfield, the game has largely remained unchanged since it first debuted. The game primarily uses five different card types: land cards which can be used to power up other spells, creature cards used to attack and defend from opponents, enchantment cards to enact new, lasting rules on the game, instant spells to cause new, short-term effects and abilities at any point in the game, and sorceries which has similar outcomes to instants but can only be used at certain phases of the caster’s own turn....

Mark Hamill still believes Star Wars franchise fatigue is a possibility, especially after Solo: A Star Wars Story underperformed at the box office. When George Lucas was in charge of the famed space opera, there were six feature films released over the course of 28 years (1977 - 2005), with a 16-year gap between the end of the original trilogy and the start of the prequels. When Disney acquired Lucasfilm back in 2012, they made plans to increase that output exponentially....

Marvel has confirmed the X-Men’s teleporter Magik is pansexual - in the strangest possible way. The last decade has seen the young mutant called Magik become a major player in the X-Men comics. Possessed with the power to open teleportational “stepping discs” that instantly transport her from one place to another, Magik was raised in a Hellish dimension and has struggled to acclimatize to normal life. Magik has never shown much interest in sex and relationships....

Marvel’s new podcast series has found its Mr. Fantastic in Star Trek: Discovery’s Ethan Peck. The actor is the grandson of Hollywood icon Gregory Peck. After minor appearances in such shows as Gossip Girl, he earned his breakout role, playing a new (and sometimes bearded) version of Spock in season 2 of the CBS All Access show. Revealed to be the brother of Discovery’s lead character, Michael Burnham, the character recurred throughout the sophomore outing....

Marvel’s upcoming Disney+ Loki show may set up Kang the Conqueror as the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s next big bad. The show, starring Tom Hiddleston, will see the God of Mischief embody his nefarious persona from 2012’s The Avengers. A more reformed version of the character was killed by Thanos at the beginning of Avengers: Infinity War. In a blog post, Microsoft said by extending the tool it will help organisations quantify the greenhouse gas emissions associated with their usage of Microsoft 365 applications, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive for Business, and Microsoft Teams. Microsoft added that using the dashboard, organisations can measure total emissions and break that down to emissions per active Microsoft 365 user. Customers can also segment and filter emissions by scope and data centre region, and estimate the carbon emissions they avoid by moving their Exchange and SharePoint deployments to the cloud....

Microsoft announced today that it’s rolling out standalone Office apps for iPhone after releasing the Word, Excel, and PowerPoint apps exclusively for iPad earlier this year. Microsoft previously had an “Office Mobile” app for iPhone that integrated features of all three Office apps, but today’s release of standalone Word, Excel, and PowerPoint apps for iPhone are officially replacing Office Mobile as Microsoft’s Office solution for iPhone. Microsoft is also delivering updates for the Office iPad apps that include new features along with the ability to create and edit for free....
