Noseworthy, CEO of the Mayo Clinic, a development partner for the iOS Health platform. Now a new report from the Star Tribune claims that the Mayo Clinic will have a role in revealing the next-generation health capabilities of an upcoming device at tomorrow’s event. This time around, Microsoft has introduced a new risk factor that has never been there before – and while the company fails to name the company that threatens it, you can draw your own conclusions. “A competing vertically-integrated model, in which a single firm controls both the software and hardware elements of a product, has been successful with certain consumer products such as personal computers, mobile phones and digital music players," Microsoft’s threat assessment states, adding, “We also offer vertically-integrated hardware and software products; however, efforts to compete with the vertically integrated model may increase our cost of sales and reduce operating margins....

The company is not ending the development of perpetual versions of the suite, but users will need to move to the latest versions in order to access all of Microsoft’s Office 365 cloud services. For example, Office 2016 which was launched in September 2015 will have its mainstream support end in 2020. So, if you don’t cut over to a Microsoft Office subscription by then, it will no longer be supported to connect to Microsoft’s cloud services....

Ming-Chi Kuo today released a report discussing the 2020 iPhone lineup. As expected, Kuo says that Apple is set to launch the first 5G iPhones later next year. The analyst also says that all three models will feature OLED displays. The report says the new phones will come in 6.7-inch, 5.4-inch, and 6.1-inch screen sizes. The 6.1-inch OLED model is apparently the successor to the iPhone XR (or whatever this year’s 2019 LCD 6....

A group of major app developers have set up their own association, seemingly geared to doing the same job as The App Association, an existing group sponsored by Apple and other tech giants. They have formed the App Coalition, which seeks to lobby Congress on behalf of app developers, especially during the coronavirus crisis … Bloomberg reports. Both groups say they are willing to work together, though the fact that some developers see a need to form a new association suggests that things may not be as collegiate as their public statements would suggest....
