In the Redmond giant’s latest round of patches, usually released on the second Tuesday of each month in what is known as Patch Tuesday, Microsoft has fixed problems including remote code execution (RCE) vulnerabilities, privilege escalation bugs, spoofing issues, information leaks, and policy bypass exploits. Products impacted by February’s security update include the Windows Kernel, Hyper-V, Microsoft Outlook and Office, Azure Data Explorer, and Microsoft SharePoint. The single zero-day vulnerability, now patched by Microsoft, is CVE-2022-21989....

Universal is possibly making another attempt at a cinematic universe of monsters with a new film, Monster Mash. The studio is known for a run of classic horror movies featuring characters like Dracula, The Mummy, and The Wolfman. At various points, they’ve even attempted to launch a combined universe of famous monsters, a la The Avengers, called Dark Universe. The MARS Lightcon & IR Station works surprisingly well for something so easy to set up, and the Lightcon gun controller feels appropriately heavy without being too much for players to keep aloft for extended periods of time. After Google started rolling out FLoC to some Chrome users as a replacement for third-party cookies, the technology has become rather controversial. Microsoft Edge, Apple Safari, and Mozilla Firefox have confirmed they don’t have immediate plans to adopt FLoC. Google is positioning FLoC, or Federated Learning of Cohorts, as a new standard for the web. That’s an idea that privacy-focused companies such as Brave, Vivaldi, and DuckDuckGo have openly discussed their opposition to, calling FLoC “privacy-invasive” even when that is exactly what the tech is trying to avoid....

Canaccord Adams analyst Peter Misek points out that RIM shares are in decline and warns that Microsoft appears to have a “standing offer to buy them at $50 a share,” he told Reuters.
