In the early 2000s, we saw a show make a great impact in all of our lives and that show is Malcolm in the Middle. With a great cast, and quality episodes that still make us crack up today.
The actors and cast have found great success after their time in the show and have even found greater success than the critically acclaimed show. We’re using IMDb to help us look at each of Malcolm in the Middle’s cast’s best roles.
Erik Per Sullivan (Dewie) - Finding Nemo 8.3
Erik Per Sullivan plays the family’s youngest son and the one with most potential behind Malcolm. Starting the show at a young age and growing up before our eyes, many saw Dewey as a younger sibling as he was often mischievous and causing the family a lot of trouble.
Malcolm in The Middle looks like it’s been his most well-known work but in 2003 he voiced the young seahorse Sheldon in Finding Nemo, a movie that got a resounding 8.3 on the scale.
Justin Berfield (Reese) - Kim Possible 7.3
Reese is the second oldest brother, but in the household is often seen as the oldest due to their oldest brother always being away. Reese is the typical big brother and not the smartest of people. He’s often the comic relief as he doesn’t share his brother’s intelligence but still finds a way to get under their skin.
Besides Malcolm in the Middle is his best role, he voiced Gill in the popular animated series Kim Possible where he voiced Gill. Gill was the aquatic monster that often terrorized Kim and Ron.
Jane Kaczmarek (Lois) - A Long Journey Into Night: Live 8.7
Lois is the boy’s mother and is often seen chasing them around when they’re up to no good. Kaczmarek plays the role well, instilling fear while still being a good mother and a loving one for the boys.
Her acting expertise is put to the test in her best-rated role as Mary Tyrone in A Long Journey Into Night: Live. Mary is a member of a dysfunctional family with a lot of dark secrets that are being exposed before our very eyes. It was a well-casted show that moved a lot of people and the fact it is semi-autobiographical makes it a must-see.
Christopher Masterson (Francis) - Chapman 7.3
Francis is the mysterious older brother that was shipped off to military school as the show started. As it progressed, we saw more and more of Francis and his adventures and eventual marriage.
In Chapman, he plays a love-struck guy who gets caught in a love triangle that takes a twist. It’s cool to see Masterson expanding his horizon and moving unto roles beyond comedy.
Craig Lamar Taylor (Stevie) - This Bitter Earth 7.6
Craig Lamar Taylor plays the lovable and loyal friend to Malcolm who stuck with him despite his disability. He was something of a goody-two-shoes and sheltered by his parents but longed to break free.
Although Taylor hasn’t been in much since his time as Stevie we have to recognize his role in the critically acclaimed This Bitter Earth. Taylor plays Tyrone MC a friend to the protagonist who rediscovers her love for music after a brief hiatus following a tragedy.
David Anthony Higgins (Craig) - State Of Bacon 8.0
David Anthony Higgins played Lois’ creepy coworker Craig who had a huge crush on Lois despite her being married. He was comedic although creepy and awkward.
In State of Bacon, Higgins is a bacon fanatic in a rockumentary about a bacon festival. Need we say more? It’s got humor, it’s got a solid cast, and most importantly it’s got bacon.
Kenneth Mars (Otto) - Young Frankenstein 8.0
Otto is the rambunctious owner of the resort Francis works at the comedic German goofball we all grew to love. Kenneth Mars has had an impressive career including roles in several critically acclaimed movies and shows.
This includes his role as Inspector Kemp in Young Frankenstein. The movie is exactly what it sounds like, its a telling of a young doctor Frankenstein before the creation of the monster and his life leading up to the moment.
Tania Raymonde (Cynthia) - Lost 8.3
Tania Raymond plays Cynthia, the only Krelyboyne girl and Malcolm’s only real love interest. She’s just as smart as Malcolm and she is outspoken and tough, even beating up Reese after he manipulated her for her looks.
Nowadays, Tania Raymonde is still in the spotlight and was even in a critically acclaimed show Lost, playing Alex. It is one of the most well-received shows in all of the pop culture so it’s safe to say she has the experience working with millions of people tuning in.
Bryan Cranston (Hal) - Breaking Bad 9.5
Bryan Cranston plays Hal, the passive and gullible father of the family who is often caught up in some shenanigans with the family. Bryan Cranston is one of the most accomplished actors on this list, earning Emmys and even being nominated for Oscars.
But his best role would have to be as Walter White in Breaking Bad. He plays a family man as well but when he is diagnosed with life-threatening cancer he raises money by becoming a drug lord. it is the highest-rated role on the list and Breaking Bad is arguably one of the best shows in tv history. It’s still one of the highest-rated shows to ever come out.
Frankie Muniz (Malcolm) - My Dog Skip 7.0
Malcolm is the star of the show, where he narrates and we see everything through his eyes in a sort of way. Malcolm is played by Frankie Muniz who at one time was the most sought out child actor due to his success in the early 2000s.
Although he has stepped away from acting, he is still an icon, starring in the well-rated My Dog Skip. This timepiece takes place in the brink of the war and Muniz plays Willie, a youth with an extraordinary dog. It’s a heartwarming story about a boy and his dog that’s well worth the watch. Bring the tissues of course.
