WE TV’s Mama June: From Not to Hot star “Mama June” Shannon’s erratic behavior could jeopardize her reality TV show. She’s been making headlines recently for her substance abuse issues and increasingly tenuous relationship with her boyfriend.
Mama June’s life has been turned upside down since getting into a relationship with her boyfriend Geno Doak. She was arrested for possession of crack cocaine earlier this year after Doak threatened her life during a domestic dispute. But despite the court ordering Doak to stay away from June, the two were seen together not long after the arrest and continue to date. Due to Doak’s negative influence on June, the reality TV star’s daughter, Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson, has moved out of her house to live with her older sister Pumpkin. June’s behavior has gotten so bad, in fact, that she could potentially force the network to cancel her show, jeopardizing her reality TV career.
June’s repeated refusal to get help for her substance abuse issues or cut Doak out of her life has the producers of Mama June: From Not to Hot wondering if they can continue with the series. The network has attempted to get June help, even offering to pay to send her to rehab, but she’s refused it. So far, though, producers aren’t giving up on her. They’re still committed to helping June get better. However, that might mean taking her off the air. Sources told TMZ that filming for the 4th season of Mama June: From Not to Hot is on hold until June starts to take steps toward bettering herself.
While June has expressed remorse for the drug-related arrest, she hasn’t changed her erratic behavior. In fact, things have gotten even worse. Recently, she and Doak were selling off everything in June’s Georgia home, including the coat hangers, which were going for $10 a piece. Her daughter still hasn’t returned home and continues to live with Pumpkin. Doak has been accused of playing mind games with June - sources previously told TMZ he had her in a “mental prison.”
June has been on reality TV since appearing on Here Comes Honey Boo Boo in 2012. Because it’s been her main stream of income over the past seven years, it would be difficult for her to lose this latest show. But regardless of whether or not Mama June: From Not to Hot remains on the air, and while it’s been difficult for the producers and family members to get through to her so far, hopefully WE TV will be able to get June the help she needs.
