The Mandalorian season 1 finale cast is full of familiar characters and fun cameos - here’s everyone who appeared in “Redemption.” Directed by Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok), the action-packed finale is filled with characters fans have met over the prior seven episodes in order to bring the current story to a close and set up the future of The Mandalorian.
Following the events of the penultimate episode of the season, The Mandalorian season 1 finale sees Mando, Cara Dune, and Greef Karga surrounded by the stormtroopers commanded by Moff Gideon. Their dire circumstances are changed after IG-11 rescues Baby Yoda and rides into town on Nevarro. The group plans their escape from the planet to keep Baby Yoda out of Gideon’s hands and, after Mando receiving a few upgrades and his signet, are successful in protecting the foundling - at least for now.
The episode features just about every major character from The Mandalorian to this point who are still alive and free. Here’s a complete list of the main cast members for the Disney+ series, as well as cameos that otherwise may have been missed.
Pedro Pascal as Din Djarin
Now confirmed to be his real name, Din Djarin aka The Mandalorian is played by Pedro Pascal. Although Pascal is not always under the suit, he does provide the voice for Din in all eight episodes of The Mandalorian. The skilled bounty hunter has seen his life change as a result of the season after deciding not to kill Baby Yoda or let him be kept by The Client (Werner Herzog). Viewers are likely to recognize Pascal - whose face is finally shown in the finale - from his work in Game of Thrones, Narcos, or Kingsman: The Golden Circle, as well as the recent Wonder Woman 1984 trailer.
Gina Carano as Cara Dune
The former Rebel Shock Trooper Cara Dune is once again played by Gina Carano. She has recently decided to help Mando on his quest to protect Baby Yoda and defeat those who want to use him for their own good. As revealed in the finale, Cara is originally from Alderaan, the home of Leia Organa that was destroyed several years ago by Darth Vader, Grand Moff Tarkin, and the Death Star. Outside of The Mandalorian, Carano is best known for her roles in Deadpool, Fast & Furious 6, and Haywire, along with her days as an MMA fighter.
Carl Weathers as Greef Karga
The leader of the Bounty Hunters’ Guild and “disgraced magistrate”, Greef Karga has now turned over a new leaf to help Mando and Baby Yoda. He was originally going to betray Din and return Baby Yoda to The Client, but the small creature’s ability to heal him led to Greef changing his mind over what future should await it. Played by Carl Weathers, viewers are most likely to recognize him as Apollo Creed from the Rocky franchise. But, his long career has also seen him appear in Predator, Happy Gilmore, and recently voice a character in Toy Story 4. Along with some of his fellow cast members, Weathers will soon direct an episode of The Mandalorian.
Taika Waititi as IG-11
Not only did Taika Waititi direct The Mandalorian season 1 finale, but his character, IG-11, also received a prominent role. Thought to be dead after Mando shot him in the head at the end of the premiere, a reprogrammed IG-11 returned in the prior episode. Now reprogrammed to be a caretaker, he fulfills that role to protect Baby Yoda throughout the finale. Waititi has played characters in every movie he’s directed, whether it’s providing the voice of Korg in Ragnarok and other MCU films or playing an imaginary Hitler in Jojo Rabbit.
Giancarlo Esposito as Moff Gideon
Introduced in the last episode, Moff Gideon is a former governor under the Empire. His return in the finale continues his attempt to gain possession of Baby Yoda and shows the wealth of information he has. He knows the identities and pasts of Din, Cara, and Greef, leading Din to deduce that he was part of the Imperial Security Bureau. Giancarlo Esposito brings a menace to Gideon just as he has before with his most recognizable role as Gus Fringe on Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul.
Emily Swallow as The Armorer
It has been a few episodes since The Armorer appeared on The Mandalorian. She returns in the finale as the group travel through the Mandalorian’s tunnels beneath Nevarro. After the entire clan revealed themselves in episode 3, Imperial troopers came to wipe them all out. She is all that remains on the planet and gives Din a jetpack and his signet. The Armorer chose to remain on Nevarro until she’s done salvaging the armor of the fallen Mandalorians. Emily Swallow’s voice can previously be heard in Castlevania, but some viewers may also know her as Amara from Supernatural.
Jason Sudeikis as Bike Scout Trooper #1
One of the cameos featured in The Mandalorian season 1 finale is Jason Sudeikis as Bike Scout Trooper #1. He plays the trooper who scooped up Baby Yoda in the previous episode and appears at the beginning of the finale to provide some comedy. Sudeikis, of course, is known for his comedic work in films like Horrible Bosses and We’re the Millers, as well as his long stint on Saturday Night Live.
Adam Pally as Bike Scout Trooper #2
Joining Sudeikis in this opening sequence is Adam Pally as Bike Scout Trooper #2. He is very curious about the creature they acquired and just wants to look at it, up until Baby Yoda bites his finger. Pally has a small connection to The Mandalorian creator Jon Favreau, as they both played roles in Iron Man 3, with Pally playing Gary the Cameraman. He is otherwise best known for his roles on TV shows like Happy Endings and The Mindy Project.
