A couple of Hasbro Marvel Legends figure tie-ins for Avengers: Endgame offers fans the best look at Ronin’s full new suit, as well as Thanos wearing his armor with a brand new Infinity Gauntlet. The culmination of 22-film arc that the MCU has been treading for more than a decade now, many are looking forward to what lies ahead for Earth’s Mightiest Heroes as they square off with Thanos for potentially the final time. Picking up after the devastating events of Avengers: Infinity War, the Joe and Anthony Russo-directed flick continues to be shrouded in mystery despite being this close to its release.
Marvel Studios has implemented a measured marketing campaign for Endgame so as not to reveal any pivotal narrative points from the movie. There are three official previews at this point - two trailers and the Super Bowl spot. Last week, a TV spot rolled out but without any new footage, instead, it teases Captain America’s morale-boosting speech. While Kevin Feige and his team will continue to run the movie’s marketing smartly, tie-in merchandise have been giving fans a peek at what their favorite characters will look like in Avengers 4. The latest of which gives a clear look for Ronin and Thanos.
Hasbro has released official images of Ronin and Thanos, as well as Captain America from their Marvel Legends line (ComicBookMovie.com). The super soldier is sporting the “Advanced Tech Suit” that is believed to be the team’s uniform going into the Quantum Realm, he also has his shield back and cowl. The mysterious wrist device fans have seen some of the heroes wearing in Endgame set photos is included as well. Meanwhile, Clint Barton is wearing his new Ronin suit that fans briefly saw in the first Avengers 4 trailer. Instead of his bow and arrow, the hero has a twin set of swords and some ninja stars. Finally, Thanos dons his full armor with his latest weapon on the right hand while he wears a perfectly-looking Infinity Gauntlet on the left.
The Russo brothers have warned fans about the accuracy of tie-in merchandise and they’re not wrong. Sometimes, what ends up in the shelves doesn’t necessarily appear in the film. That said, previous reveals corroborate these looks for these specific characters. Fans have seen them separately either from the trailer, set photos or the official Empire cover for Endgame. Given this, it’s safe to say that viewers will see Captain America, Ronin and Thanos sport these respective suits at some point in the movie.
All three look good in their new get-ups, but arguably the one that poses the most questions is Thanos’ look. The Russos explained that the reason he ditched his armor at the beginning of Infinity War was because he no longer needed it as he had two Infinity Stones already - the Power Stone and Space Stone. As he collected more of the gems, he became more powerful, but if he has all six of them, why does he need to put the suit back on? It’s been confirmed that enacting the snap permanently damaged him as evidence by his burnt arm, but it’s possible that it has other more serious effects. Another interesting thing to point out is the fact that the Gauntlet looks pristine - different from the wrecked one at the end of Avengers 3. This raises the possibility that the Mad Titan may have a brand new Gauntlet come Avengers: Endgame.
