Marvel’s Star is about to shine a little brighter. Spinning out of the pages of Captain Marvel, Star emerged as a breakout character whose powers and connection to Carol Danvers were unknown, yet intriguing. In the new array of cover art for her upcoming series, Star is back – and this time, she’s got an Infinity Stone.
While Star first emerged as a superhero who basked in the limelight after Captain Marvel became one of the world’s most hated superheroes. Ultimately, the stronger Star turned out to be a deadly foe for Captain Marvel. Ripley Ryan was the only human survivor of Minn-Erva’s genetic experiment and gained powers by siphoning them from Danvers via a virus and device. Captain Marvel eventually removed the device and banished Star to the super-prison, The Raft. But Star escaped after it was revealed she possessed the Reality Stone.
Star will be getting her own miniseries from Kelly Thompson, Carmen Carnero, and Javier Pina. In the variant covers for the series, Star’s power with the Infinity Stone is seemingly immense. The preview teases that “you thought you knew what the Infinity Stone’s were capable of. Think again.” So it seems Star will have no problem escaping out of any super-prisons that try to hold her in the future. Still, having drained some power from Captain Marvel is one thing. However, possessing an Infinity Stone is a whole other deal. Star won’t just be powerful, she’ll be god-like powerful. She seemed to merge with the stone in Captain Marvel #11. Whether she’s had the stone this whole time or recently absorbed it is unclear. What is clear is Star is going to be an absolute powerhouse when she returns, and will make life difficult for whoever stands in her way.
Star #1 will feature six covers including the original from artists including J. Scott Campbell, Valentina Remenar, Jeehyung Lee, Pepe Larraz and Mico Suayan. The covers and solicits for Star #1 are below!
