The world of the X-Men is brighter and more optimistic than it has been in years, which means it’s the perfect time for the New Mutants to reclaim their place in the larger world of Marvel’s mutants. And to make sure these mutants are delivering an entertaining mission in their debut, Marvel is sending them into space – as a new launch trailer explains, it’s all in service of letting fans know what they’re in for in the coming months.
Following the events of Jonathan Hickman’s massive X-Men relaunch, the outlook for mutantkind is free from the worries and threats of the past (just don’t tell that to Charles Xavier). So with challenges still on the horizon, and an old friend off in distant Shi’ar space, it’s up to the mutant youth to “continue the newfound success of their species into the future!” See what’s coming for mutants next in this launch trailer featuring Editor-in-Chief C.B. Cebulski, Senior Editor Jordan D. White, and writer Ed Brisson.
The New Mutants have reunited under the banner of Krakoa, but they won’t be staying in the new home for long! Their first mission: retrieve their errant comrade Cannonball from the depths of space. Joined by former Generation X members Chamber and Mondo, the New Mutants head for the stars, but quickly come into conflict with both the Shi’ar and the Starjammers! Check out the launch trailer below:
Editors White and Cebulski are obviously on board with this new “magnificent mutant manifesto,” but hear from co-writer Ed Brisson directly about what can be expected from his plan for the series (along with Rod Reis’ artwork):
For now, readers can find the full solicitation information and plot synopsis below:
We start Issue #1 just giving everyone the lay of the land, what life on Krakoa looks like, what it looks like for the New Mutants, and we almost immediately send them off on a space adventure. We’re mixing up the team a little bit so it’s not just necessarily classic New Mutants. We’re going to be mixing them with some other Generation X characters and some other younger mutants. It’s a really fun book. You know, the X-Men books tend to be pretty dark. This one is actually quite fun.
