With Avengers: Endgame shattering box office records everywhere after only a few days, Marvel Studios showed their appreciation for fans after its release. That appreciation was more than warranted, as not only did those fans help the film skyrocket to the biggest debut in history, they had also filled Twitter timelines with their own gratitude in the form of the #ThankYouAvengers hashtag.
The movie in and of itself was already a gift to fans who have been through a decade of ups and downs with the original Avengers, but the studio also wanted to thank them for being a part of the journey and loving the characters so earnestly. So, it’s only fitting that they took to Twitter for their display, which incorporated all 22 films that make up the MCU in a stunning graphic that proves just how expansive this cinematic world has become.
The tweet itself also contained a very powerful message, telling fans, “We love you 3000.” Those who have already seen Avengers: Endgame will recognize the line as an essential part of the film, but it works just as well in out of context. It’s the perfect response for Marvel to give fans around the world as recognition of not only how much love they have received from audiences, but how much care they have put into the products they create.
Without the success of films like Iron Man and Captain America, perhaps the Avengers wouldn’t be where they are today. But without a passionate fanbase who stuck with the MCU through thick and thin, it is certain that Avengers: Endgame would not be such a global phenomenon. And thanks to the back and forth between the cast and crew of every film and fanbase, a studio making billions of dollars doesn’t feel like a soulless money-making machine and has instead become a powerhouse by creating entertainment out of love.
However, while this tweet is indeed marking the end of an era, it is not a farewell by any means. Audiences will have to say goodbye to Phase 3 of the story after Spider-Man: Far From Home swings into theaters this summer, but there is so much more to look forward to. Plenty of potential future plotlines were hinted at in Avengers: Endgame, and Disney+ is coming to give viewers even more content, reminding us that this symbiotic relationship between Marvel Studios and Marvel fans is far from over. In another ten years, the MCU will likely consist of just as many classic and beloved films.
