In a double elimination of Thingamajig and Leopard on Fox’s smash-hit who-sung-it reality competition, The Masked Singer, the top three were revealed. In the semi-finalists, Thingamajig was revealed as NBA player Victor Oladipo and then Leopard, who was unmasked and revealed as legendary singer Seal.
This Tuesday, Fox’s music competition The Masked Singer heated up with performances from the remaining five singers, in search for the final three. The judges, Jenny McCarthy, Ken Jeong, Nicole Scherzinger, and Robin Thicke decided on their favorite and least favorite masked singer of the night. Tuesday night was full of holiday cheer as all of the remaining contestants sang their hearts out to their favorite Christmas songs. Thingamajig covered Bing Crosby’s “Winter Wonderland” leaving the audience feeling all warm and cozy inside. Next Leopard sang the classic Christmas tune, “Big Spender” by Shirley Bassey. Despite pulling out all the stops for their holiday-inspired performances, they fell flat and Thingamajig and Leopard were sent packing at the end of the night, revealing The Masked Singer Season 2 final three: Fox, Rottweiler, and Flamingo.
Thingamajig was the first to be eliminated of the night. Once being unmasked, the character’s identity was revealed as Pacers plater Victor Oladipo. The 27-year-old NBA star had given plenty of clues that hinted at his true identity. The clues revealed that he is a gentle giant with magic, which hinted at when he used to play for the Orlando Magic. The number four kept showing up in his videos, which happens to the number of his jersey for the Pacers. Though there were a lot of fans who knew the identity of Thingamajig, no one expected such a voice to come from the NBA star. Though, some of the biggest fans have seen him show off his smooth voice on his Youtube channel and in his recent album.
Next, it was Leopard’s turn to be unmasked. The elegant and regal feline was revealed to be the iconic British singer Seal. He’s known best for his hits such as “Crazy,” “Kiss from a Rose,” and “Fly Like an Eagle.” This celebrity singer’s hints were about being in headlines for his relationship which was in reference to his highly-publicized relationship and split with supermodel Heidi Klum. The hints also included being raised in a foster family, which Seal had been. Then there was a mention of being vegan and loving tennis. Also, the biggest clue of all, if you combine Leopard and Seal, it’s a leopard seal.
After the reveal, Thingamajig aka Oladipo got a chance to speak about his experience. He said, “When I say Thing is apart of me, I really mean it.” He revealed how amazing the whole experience has been from being anonymous to receiving his first-ever standing ovation by the judges when he performed “Rainbow” by Kacey Musgrave. He ended his exit interview encouraging fans to follow their dreams and to “love one and other.” Next, it was Leopard aka Seal’s turn to speak his mind after his unmasking. He began with saying that while he was feeling “a little sad” to be leaving the competition, he also said he had “a wonderful time.” Seal said his anonymity was “an added bonus,” and he felt like the costume “gave you even more of a license to be as ridiculous and be in character.” Seal also explained how excited he is for his four children, who are fans of The Masked Singer, to find out it was their dad in the Leopard costume all along.
It was an amazing journey for these two masked celebrities giving it their all on the stage. And now it’s time to prepare for the epic two-hour finale next Wednesday, which Flamingo, Rottweiler, and Fox will battle it out for the crown.
