MasterCard announced today that it’s bringing Apple Pay to the PGA Tour starting with its first stop at the Waste Management Phoenix Open kicking off this week.

MasterCard will also offer attendees using Apple Pay the chance to earn rewards through its Priceless Surprise program.

Food and beverage concessions at the 2015 Waste Management Phoenix Open near the16th hole at TPC Scottsdale will be contactless enabled through a partnership with Prom Management Group, which provides catering to 38 professional golf tour events, allowing golf fans to make payments using Apple Pay, the easy, secure and private way to pay. This will be the first PGA TOUR stop to accept Apple Pay, when it debuts for fans attending the tournament later this week.

We’d imagine MasterCard will be accepting other payment options as it teams up with the PGA Tour to offer contactless payments for stops throughout 2015, but it’s clear the company is using the opportunity to heavily promote Apple Pay. The potential rewards being offered to customers during the PGA Tour will be available to MasterCard holders paying with Apple Pay available on iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

The first stop on the tour accepting Apple Pay, the Waste Management Phoenix Open, officially kicks off on January 29th.
