Anthony Edward ‘Tony’ Stark or Iron Man is perhaps the most popular character in the entire Marvel universe. With Robert Downey Jr.’s brilliant portrayal of Iron Man onscreen, Tony’s character gained immense popularity worldwide and is often dubbed as ‘the godfather of the Marvel cinematic universe.’
Born with a silver spoon in his mouth, Tony is also brilliantly gifted, a skilled inventor and a successful industrialist, and his lifestyle proves it. Tony Stark’s real estate, technology and car collection can make any billionaire fill with envy. Scroll below to see the 10 most ridiculously expensive things he has bought in the MCU.
The sea-side mansion
Until the Mandarin attack in Iron Man 3, Tony Stark lived in a beautiful sea-side mansion that sat alone on a cliff, overlooking the ocean in Malibu. Built with a custom design, the house contained multiple living areas, Tony’s master bedroom, a gym, a helipad, a waterfall and a basement that served as his high-tech workshop.
Unlike your average mansion, Tony’s home was equipped with pioneering technology that he named JARVIS. JARVIS essentially turned this beautiful mansion into the best smart home ever, featuring cutting edge technology such as holograms to aid Tony’s research.
A string of aircrafts
While renting out private jets may seem like no big deal when it comes to billionaires and celebrities, Tony Stark takes his airborne vehicles game to a whole new level. His first private jet is introduced in the first Iron Man, a modified version of a Boeing 737. Unlike the normal 737’s, Stark’s plane came with poles which his air hostesses perform on.
Through the rest of the movies, the viewers also get to see Stark’s upgraded private jet that eventually gets destroyed and his cargo plane that is tasked to transfer material to his new facility. He is also seen with F-16 Fighting Falcons, a C-130 and a couple of helicopters.
Iron Man Suits
Suiting up yourself to save the world is one thing, creating 100s of technology powered suits to do the same is another. After perfecting his technology for the Iron Man suit, Tony proceeds to create dozens of empty suits that are fully controlled by JARVIS.
These suits often fight alongside him, help evacuate cities, and more often than not, console and aid Peter Parker in times of need. However, with the cutting-edge tech needed to build them, we are sure this is one of Stark’s most expensive project in the MCU.
Wine Cellar
Tony’s love for Dom Perignon is no secret in the Marvel franchise. Just like his expensive taste in champagne, Tony is attracted to extremely expensive bottles of wine.
In Iron Man 3, a lonely Tony sits in his cellar, surrounded by incredibly expensive bottles of wine. He sips on a glass of Hundred Acre Ark Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon. Not only is this bottle extremely costly, but also hard to acquire. You need to add your name on the company’s waiting list, and hope to get your hands on the bottle. Of course if you’re Tony Stark, nothing is ever unobtainable.
Robot Helpers
While scientists hire assistants or technicians to help them with research, Tony creates his own. Instead of hiring humans to help with his ongoing projects, Tony has a string of robots around his house to assist him.
Stark created his two robot helpers, Dum-E and U, in 1986 and 2009 respectively. Apart from aiding Tony in his research and executing precision work, these robots have been known to save Tony’s life more than once.
Acura 2012 Super car
At the end of the 2012 New York Avengers battle, Tony Stark can be seen driving away in an Acura 2012 with Bruce Banner in the passenger seat. This Stark Industries super car is custom built for Tony by Acura, and is one of a kind. It can drive up to 234 PPE in the city and 302 PPE on the highway.
The steering wheel comes with a palm-scan Id and the car is equipped with hologram technology that shows the surroundings. It is estimated to be worth around $10 million.
Car Collection
Apart from the 2012 Acura, Tony has a fleet of 13 other uber expensive cars that sit in his garage. These cars include a 1932 Ford Flathead Roadster, an Audi R8, a 1953 Cadillac, a Rolls Royce Phantom, and even a Bugatti Veyron SS. He even bought the Audi R8 e-tron in both red and white and another Acura NSX.
Exquisite Watches
Every billionaire is known to flash an expensive wristwatch or two. However, Tony Stark has exhibited some of the finest watches in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Stark started slow in Iron Man adorning his wrist with Bulgari watches that didn’t seem to get much media attention. He then took it to the next level with his platinum Jaeger-LeCoultre AMVOX III Tourbillon GMT in Iron Man 2. In Spiderman Homecoming, Stark chose an exquisite Urwerk UR-110 RG, made of 18K rose gold.
Art Collection
Tony’s sea-side Malibu mansion could fool anyone into thinking it was a modern art gallery. The mansion’s walls are adorned with artwork that could cause any collector envy. The abstract expressionist art and myriad sculptures around the house were all collected and curated by Pepper Potts, causing her much dismay when Stark decided to donate the entire collection to the Boy Scouts in Iron Man 2.
Avengers Headquarters
At the end of the first Avengers film, Tony Stark converts the Stark headquarters into a facility for the avengers. After the destruction of this property, Stark invests in another, much bigger estate for the Avengers.
This facility comes fully equipped with a conference room, multiple common areas, high tech labs for research, a shooting range, a rehab room, a gym, a room for each avenger and many other areas. With New York real estate prices, one can only imagine how big a dent these facilities put in Stark’s wallet.
