Duchess Meghan Markle and Harry decided to step down from their roles as senior members of the Royal family. However, she reportedly didn’t expect the backlash that ensued, more specifically all of the Royal “backstabbing.”

On Monday, January 13th, the Queen called an emergency meeting between the three princes to talk about Prince Harry and his wife, Duchess Meghan Markle’s decision to step down as senior royal members. The news of their abdication left a shockwave of emotion throughout the world and especially within the Royal family. The Queen, Harry’s brother Prince William, and his father Prince Charles were all reportedly upset by the news of Harry abandoning his role within the monarchy. However, after Duchess Meghan had a difficult time adjusting to life under the microscope of the British media and decided it would be best to distance themselves from their Royal duties, become financially stable, and split their time between North America and the UK.

Fans were quick to not only mom-shame Meghan but to also blame her pulling Harry away from his royal duties. However, the most damaging criticism came from within the palace walls. A Royal source told Us Weekly that the palace is breeding grounds for drama and backstabbing, saying, “Meghan knew life as a royal wouldn’t be easy. But nothing prepared her for the constant criticism and drama and backstabbing that goes on behind palace doors.” 

The insider reported that Prince Harry stepped down because he felt responsible for his wife’s suffering while in the public eye. “To say he’s upset about the way the royals and the UK press have treated Meghan is an understatement.” After Meghan and Harry announced their plans on January 8th, the whole world has weighed in on their decision to move in their own direction and plenty of celebrities have backed their choice.

Since Meghan is currently in Canada with baby Archie and their dogs, it seems that she won’t be coming back to the UK anytime soon. It seems that Harry and Meghan planned to set up base in Canada ahead of the backlash as they knew that it was going to be a scandal that would shock Royal watchers worldwide.
