Michelle Pfeiffer has offered some advice to Zoe Kravitz, from one Catwoman to another, ahead of filming on The Batman. Back in 1992, Pfeiffer starred as Selina Kyle (aka Catwoman) to iconic acclaim in Tim Burton’s Batman Returns. Word of Kravitz landing that once-again coveted role was announced earlier in the week, provoking a wave of support from fans across social media and a celebratory post from Aquaman star Jason Momoa, who also happens to be Kravitz’s stepfather. Having fought off stiff competition from such actresses as Ana de Armas, Ella Balinska, and Eiza González, the Big Little Lies star will feature prominently opposite Robert Pattinson - who’s confirmed to be playing Bruce Wayne (aka Batman).

The film will be written and directed by Matt Reeves (War for the Planet of the Apes), and is rumored to be based on Jeph Loeb’s mid-1990s storyline, The Long Halloween. As such, it’s expected to feature a whole range of Batman universe characters and villains. Though it was for a time looking as though he would play one of those villains, negotiations with Jonah Hill never came to fruition. Likewise, Seth Rogen was almost cast as Penguin, yet ultimately never panned out. Regardless, Jeffrey Wright is expected to play Commissioner Jim Gordon - with further, official casting announcements for Harvey Dent (aka Two-Face) due in the near future.

Pfeiffer appeared on Good Morning America to promote her own new film, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil. While she was there, the veteran (and seemingly ageless) actress was asked if she had any advice for Kravitz, and imparted the following (and hilariously perfect) pearl of wisdom: “Make sure, while designing the costume, they consider how you’re going to go to the bathroom.” Despite the fact it wasn’t what the interviewer was expecting, and it was only what Pfeiffer went added was only a minor detail, the response was met with a hugely positive response in the studio.

Still widely considered the best Catwoman, Pfeiffer has since maintained her whip skills, and has a number of other projects in the pipeline. She also stated that she really wants to make Ant-Man 3, in which she’d presumably reprise her role as the original Wasp, Janet Van Dyne. Pfeiffer recently went on record and endorsed Maleficent co-star Elle Fanning for the Catwoman role.  Despite that, the actress declared that she’d been “so excited” when she’d heard of Kravitz signing on. This won’t actually be the first time Kravitz has taken on the role, having previously voiced the feline antihero in 2017’s LEGO Batman Movie.

The role will assuredly be a lot different in live-action, however, and will no doubt require long hours of work at a time. As such, as Pfeiffer reiterated later on in the interview, it may be a minor detail, but it’s most definitely an important one. Spider-Man actor Tom Holland recently revealed that his favorite Spidey suit was the one that allowed him to use the bathroom. As such, he would most likely agree with the advice. There’s no way of knowing whether or not Kravitz, who’s currently working on a television version of High Fidelity, witnessed Pfeiffer’s offering. Therefore, all fans can do is hope, for the sake of her comfort, that somebody passes it along before The Batman eventually starts filming.
