Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino is living his best sober life. The Jersey Shore: Family Vacation star celebrated four years of sobriety on December 5.
The former party animal became known for drinking in excess, showing off his six-pack, and ramming his head into concrete walls during the early seasons of Jersey Shore. After several stints in rehab for an addiction to prescription medications including Xanax and oxycodone, Sorrentino has changed his ways.
In an interview with Us Weekly, Sorrentino spoke candidly about his sobriety, saying, “I am grateful to be four years clean and sober, being my best self and living my best life.” While the actual anniversary of his sobriety is December 24, Sorrentino celebrates the momentous occasion the entire month of December. He worked hard to get sober and remain sober, and he hopes that his journey will inspire others to do the same. Sorrentino took to Instagram on December 5 to post a photo with the caption “Celebrating 4 Years Clean & Sober.” See The Situation’s celebratory post below:
He attributes much of his success to his wife, Lauren. The couple recently celebrated their first anniversary together. She commented on the photo saying “You are an inspiration honey, so proud to call you my husband.” Sorrentino, who was recently released from prison after serving eight months, has been enjoying time with his wife, Lauren. The power couple works closely with rehab facilities to help others suffering from addiction. This year, they’ve partnered with Banyan Treatment Centers to create a holiday treatment scholarship. The Sorrentino’s will pay for one individual’s 30-day treatment to help them achieve sobriety.
Having seen Sorrentino at some of the lowest points in his life, fans of the show are happy that he’s on this new trajectory and continues to avoid his past demons. In addition to being a heart-warming story, Sorrentino is also a great source of inspiration to anyone going through any kind of difficulty. His quotes are legendary, including his most recent: “The comeback is truly greater than the setback.” Jersey Shore fanatics want to continue to watch Sorrentino shine in such positive and healthy ways. Now that he’s served his sentence for tax evasion, Jersey Shore fans are also eager to see what life has in store for Big Daddy Sitch.
