The poster of Money Plane is revealed exclusively to Screen Rant. The independent action film is directed by Andrew Lawrence, who co-wrote the script with Tim Schaaf. A co-production between Dawn’s Light and Taylor & Dodge, Money Plane stars WWE superstar Adam “Edge” Copeland, Kelsey Grammer, Thomas Jane, and Denise Richards. Each of the four notable names are known for excelling in different aspects of the entertainment industry. Copeland stunned the wrestling world recently by coming out of retirement to compete in the Royal Rumble. Grammer is, of course, best known for the iconic role of Dr. Frasier Crane. Jane is a veteran of the big and small screen, with a number of memorable performances over the years, while Richards is one of the highlights of reality television.
Money Plane unites the unlikely quartet to tell the story of professional thief Jack Reese, played by Copeland. In order to settle a debt with his ruthless employer, (Grammer), Resse has to rob a futuristic airborne casino filled with the world’s most dangerous criminals. As the heist unfolds, in midair, a second man on the ground (Jane) discovers an ominous double cross that threatens to unravel everything. With $4o million on the line, not to mention the wellbeing of his family, there’s a lot at stake for Copeland’s character. The film, which features an appearance by Lawrence, as well as his brothers Joey and Matthew, is produced by Richard Switzer and Tyler W. Konney. Jason Cherubini and Alexander Ferguson serve as executive producers.
Money Plane is slated for release in the United States later this year, with Taylor & Dodge handling worldwide sales. The poster for the film, revealed exclusively to Screen Rant, highlights the film’s stars and brings to mind other action franchises like Kingsman: The Secret Service which was marketed using visually similar advertisements. While it’s certainly too early to say whether Money Plane will lead to sequels and spinoffs, it’s certainly possible. There has always been an audience for outlandish action movies, bolstered by a bit of star power. There is a reason why Con Air, led by Nic Cage, persists as a classic to this day. For a more recent example, the Has Fallen franchise starring Gerald Butler has proved surprisingly successful.
There are a lot of intangibles that go into a hit action movie, but relatively high-concept thrills and contrasting personalities can often be helpful ingredients. Money Plane appears to check those two boxes with confidence. Audiences will be able to judge for themselves when the film makes its debut.
