Smartphone accessory maker Mophie announced a new iPhone battery case line today, its first designed specifically for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. Both include wireless charging tech, but they don’t add a 3.5mm headphone jack for the iPhone 7 like some competitors have done…
The new juice pack air battery cases include an iPhone 7 version with a 2,525mAh battery that Mophie says is good for more than 27 total hours of talk time. And the iPhone 7 Plus version has a 2,420mAh battery good for over 33 total hours talk time. Both models include Mophie’s Qi-compatible wireless charging tech, which means they can charge wirelessly using a compatible dock or charging mat:
We first reviewed Mophie’s new Charge Force line of wireless charging accessories back in June on 9to5Toys.
Making wireless charging easier than ever, the juice pack now features charge force™ technology that aligns magnetically with all mophie charge force accessories… Both new models are also compatible with Qi and other popular wireless charging systems, including those found at airports, restaurants, coffee houses, and several recently released automobiles.
The iPhone 7 juice pack air model measures in at 2.80 x 4.14 x 0.66 in (71.12 x 105.16 x 16.76 mm), and the 7 Plus model at 3.22 x 6.71 x 0.61 in (81.79 x 170.43 x 15.49 mm). The cases don’t include a headphone jack, which competitors are starting to include by taking advantage of audio over Lightning support. It also uses a USB A to USB micro B cable for charging the case as an alternative to wireless charging, as opposed to using a female Lightning port like others do.
Earlier today we published our review of one of the first made-for-iPhone 7 battery cases to include a headphone jack, which Mophie has notably not included in its new product and its first battery case for the iPhone 7. The case we reviewed earlier, currently planning to ship in the coming months, also includes a Lightning port for charging, Qi-wireless charging & a built-in stand. We are expecting to have a review unit of the new Mophie cases in this week for testing.
