Apple claimed during the iPhone XS event that its new flagship models use ‘the most durable smartphone glass in the world,’ and it of course wasn’t long before people started putting that claim to the test. One early test seemed encouraging, showing the new phones acquitting themselves well. But subsequent tests reveal mixed results … CNET drop tests CNET took a similar approach to TechSmart, starting with a ‘pocket height’ test – as if you’ve dropped it while removing it from a pants pocket – then moving on to head height....

Make Windows 10 Preview Faster Transparency is enabled by default, and uses more resources than using a solid background – which is the same as previous versions of Windows. Head to Settings > Personalization > Colors and scroll down. Then turn off Make Start, taskbar, and action center transparent. Minecraft has launched a new package called Minecraft Dungeons. The pack is available on the official Minecraft website to buy and play the new package. Misfit, the creator of the popular shine fitness tracking wearable, and Beddit, the creator of sleep analysis hardware, today announced a partnership that brings sleep tracking to Misfit’s iOS app. The Beddit is a thin strip-like sensor that you place under your bed sheets. It can track heart rate, respiration, movement, snoring, sound, and sleep cycles, and it will now connect to Misfit’s app. Apple’s iOS 8 Health app will feature sleep analysis, and Misfit says it has no current information regarding an integration for sleep analysis with the Health app....

Stack Overflow reports that more developers now use OS X than Linux as their primary OS, and that if the trend continues, fewer than half of all developers will be using Windows next year. The site says it carried out ‘the most comprehensive developer survey ever conducted,’ with more than 56,000 coders across 173 countries taking part. Last year, Mac edged ahead of the Linuxes as the number 2 operating system among developers....
