Netflix’s Marvel series were a massive success overall. They introduced a range of major characters into the Marvel Cinematic Universe and were responsible for some of the greatest episodes of superhero television. They were also at the forefront of the rise of comic book movie TV shows. However, the Netflix shows definitely didn’t get everything right. Due to the writing, performances or just the way in which the characters were understood by the audience, there were many hated supporting characters across the multiple shows....

The “What If…?” series published by Marvel Comics presents fun alternative scenarios involving our favorite superheroes. And now that we’re 23 movies into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with dozens of familiar characters and high-stakes adventures to dive into, Kevin Feige has decided it’s time to bring that format to the screen. What If…? is set to premiere on Disney+ as a part of the MCU’s Phase Four, exploring a bunch of hypothetical scenarios involving storylines and characters from the MCU’s roster of movies....

The release of Mass Effect: Andromeda is tantalisingly close and developer Bioware is starting to turn its marketing screws. By now, most fans know that the hotly-anticipated sequel is set 600 years after the events of the original Mass Effect trilogy, in the neighboring Andromeda galaxy. The game follows “The Pathfinder Team”, a group tasked with finding habitable planets in Andromeda in order to establish a new home for humankind....

A new trailer is released for McMillions, the forthcoming HBO documentary series that delves into the McDonald’s Monopoly game fraud. Known the world over with its Golden Arches logo, the fast food restaurant has lent itself to narrative explorations in the past. The Founder, a 2016 biographical drama starring Michael Keaton, focused on the creation of McDonald’s. Documentaries, such as Super Size Me and Fathead, looked at the effects of eating fast food from opposing angles....

Michael B. Jordan has responded to the rumors that he will be the next Superman, but explained that he would rather portray Calvin Ellis. The actor has been a favorite to don the Man of Steel’s cape ever since reports that Henry Cavill was officially stepping down from the role, but it would seem that Jordan has other ideas. Making his debut in the 2009 major DC event Final Crisis, Calvin Ellis was created by Grant Morrison and Doug Mahnke....

As is custom over at Microsoft, today for Patch Tuesday the MSRC (Microsoft Security Research Center) released it’s August 2009 Microsoft Security Patches. 9 Security updates in total. Earlier this month, Microsoft released a useful update to its Outlook app for iOS with new Apple Watch Series 4 complications. Now, the company is back with another Apple Watch-focused update, bringing redesigned notifications for calendar events, emails, and reminders. The new notifications allow you to quickly see email subject lines and content from your Apple Watch. You can also now see detailed event information through Apple Watch Outlook calendar notifications....

Windows 10 19H1 Preview Build 18329 One of the new features includes “Top apps in Search” which will show you the apps you use the most when you open Search. Also part of this build is the ability to run desktop apps in Windows Mixed Reality Environments. “In this update, we added the ability to launch Desktop (Win32) applications (such as Spotify, Paint.NET, and Visual Studio Code) in Windows Mixed Reality, just like how you launch Store apps,” writes Microsoft execs Dona Sarkar and Brandon LeBlanc....

Windows 10 1809 October 2018 Update Users running Windows 10 1809 just received a big update last week with KB4469342, which included more fixes than today’s update. There are no new features to report, but this update does include a couple of under the hood updates and will bump your build to 17763.194. Windows 10 Preview Build 19577 In this build, the company is continuing optional updates with drivers. According to the post: “During this experiment, drivers categorized as “optional” will not be automatically downloaded and installed on Windows Insider’s PCs running Build 19536 and newer.” It is also adding features to Cortana, updated the behavior of advanced startup, and more. Netflix star Millie Bobby Brown will lead the YA adaption The Thing About Jellyfish, with Reese Witherspoon set to co-produce. The film is based on Ali Benjamin’s novel of the same name. On Stranger Things, Brown portrays Eleven, a young girl with psychic powers. In 2015, The Thing About Jellyfish was nominated for a National Book Award. The novel centers on seventh-grader Suzy Swanson, a girl who believes that her best friend’s death was caused by a jellyfish....

A new promotional clip for Spider-Man: Far From Home features MJ helping Peter Parker suit up as the web-slinging hero. Picking up shortly after the events of Avengers: Endgame, the upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel still directed by Jon Watts will see Peter go on a trip across the pond with his schoolmates. It doesn’t seem like it’s going to be much of a vacation, however, with various threats brought by the Elementals and Quentin Beck/Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) hounding his tour....

UPDATE: Official Mortal Kombat 11 Twitter suggests Shaggy will not be a DLC in new game. - Shaggy still dominates the Internet, and that will undoubtedly continue now that a Mortal Kombat 11 co-creator has posted his own take on the meme. The idea behind the Shaggy meme began after the release of the animated movie Scooby-Doo! Legend of the Phantosaur. In that film, Shaggy gets hypnotized and takes down an entire biker gang in a diner....

We predicted yesterday that the Apple Car piece teased by Motor Trend was likely to be nothing more than a speculative piece or design exercise rather than anything based on solid information – and we were right. Despite the ‘Apple Car exclusive’ headline, the entire lengthy piece is nothing more than a bunch of people brainstorming ideas for the car and then producing sketches and renders from them. Bad sketches and renders, as it turns out....

Although Maggie Q found tremendous success on the small screen as the titular femme-fatale Nikita, the gorgeous Hawaiian-born actress hasn’t been so lucky on the big screen. Here’s hoping all that changes with the release of Blumhouse’s Fantasy Island this Valentine’s Day! After all, only three of Q’s movies rated on Rotten Tomatoes currently rank as 50% fresh or better. At least two movies she’s been in received a 0% rotten rating....

A few Apple map related stories have popped up today starting with the departure of early Placebase founder– the mapping company Apple bought back in 2009– Jaron Waldman. After Apple bought Placebase, Waldman started and lead the Apple Geo team behind the Apple Maps infrastructure and location services on iOS and Mac like MapKit and CoreLocation. He was at Apple up until last month and even filed for numerous Apple mapping patents, but recently left to work at a “new startup” according sources and verified by his LinkedIn page....

We learned a little more today about Apple’s plans for Marzipan, its UIKit that will make it easy for developers to port iOS apps to the Mac. Today’s report suggests that the project will be rolling out a little more slowly than expected, with an SDK for third-party apps launching at this year’s WWDC – but only for iPad apps … That’s a rather more leisurely pace than I’d like to have seen – but the wait will be worth it....

Apple has been working on a huge rebuild of Apple Maps in the US over the last year and a half. Now that the updates are rolled out across the country, Apple Maps uses only data it’s collected itself, can push updates in realtime, and features much more detail for users. As we reported on the news in June 2018: Over the previous months, we’ve been seeing more and more regions gain the new Apple Maps data....
